Selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) are rapidly gaining traction in the health, bodybuilding, and fitness world. RAD-140 is a novel and unique substance and goes under the common name Testolone. Developed by Radius Health Inc., RAD-140 saw its development follow the path of a treatment of certain conditions like muscle wasting and breast cancer.
With many similarities to Testosterone while expressing less androgenic activity, it promises a long list of benefits without some of the downsides of testosterone. Testolone is still being studied and limited clinical human trials exist on it.
In this article we’ll go over everything you need to know about RAD-140 – how to take RAD-140, if Testolone is safe, and if Testolone is legal. Each person has very different biology, hormone profiles, and reactions to these substances so we recommend complete blood screening and consultation with a professional to understand the effects of RAD-140 on you.
Skip to the end of the article for a very quick overview of RAD-140.
Disclaimer: Use of Testolone is at your own risk and real consultation with a physician is highly recommended. These are biologically-altering compounds and can possess real health risks.
Highlights
- RAD-140 emulates many effects of Testosterone therapy while presenting many less side-effects and effects on reproductive organs.
- Testolone is orally bioactive – no injections are needed.
- An increase in muscle mass, bone density/strength, and muscular strength are commonly reported.
- RAD-140 has neuroprotective traits and does not severely affect hormone balances.
Other things to take note of!
- Very limited clicial trials have been conducted with RAD-140, mostly on rodents.
- Though many side-effects aren’t seen, unknown ones may be present.
- SARMs including RAD-140 are banned for use in competitions sanctioned by USADA and WADA.
What are the benefits of Testolone?
While Testolone has not seen much research at all, data can be extrapolated from its mechanism of action which closely mimics testosterone in many ways. Some common benefits from testosterone and Testolone are increases of muscular body mass, recomposition of body mass from fat tissue to muscular tissue, improved energy levels, sex drive, and overall improved mood.
Testosterone has been thoroughly researched and studied in thousands of clinical trials. Its effect/side effect profile has been well-documented and is seen as a primary treatment of many conditions such as low testosterone levels (seen through aging or biological abnormalities), muscle-wasting diseases, and other hormonal problems.
While testosterone was the very first anabolic androgen approved for clinical use, a variety of limitations prevent it for being more versatile in its application due to its pharmacokinetic properties. Testolone seemingly has more versatility in terms of its application due to its lack of many unwanted androgenic activities. This makes it also suitable for use in women.
RAD-140 also shows less to no potential on the development of prostate cancer from testosterone use as it doesn’t affect the sex hormones in a similar way. Avoidance of gynecomastia (development of fatty breast tissue) is also not seen to be present.
RAD-140 has also been shown to not have any liver toxicitiy. This is quite interesting as many SARMs have shown minor yet noticeable amounts of toxicity to the liver.
- RAD-140 carries many of the benefits of testosterone
- Testolone avoids many of the unwanted side-effects from testosterone.
- Increases of lean muscle mass are to be expected
- Decrease of fat mass is to be expected due to the effect on testosterone on body composition.
- Women may avoid many unwanted side-effects of testosterone.
What is RAD-140 used for?
While RAD-140 isn’t clinically approved anywhere, its development saw two primary uses with a few other applications – mostly for treatment of muscle-wasting diseases and prevention of breast cancer. The neuroprotective properties of RAD-140 show interesting results for treatment and prevention of Alzheimers. This all shows much potential for its use in elderly peoples with low testosterone levels and who are prone to Alzheimers.
Aside from its clinical potential, RAD-140 is mostly seen as a supplement for weightlifting, bodybuilding, strength, and athletic goals due to its mechanisms of action being similar to testosterone.
What are the side effects of RAD-140?
No drug is without its side effects, though RAD-140 has interestingly demonstrated almost no side-effects. Clinical evaluation on humans hasn’t really been conducted and there’s no real way to tell what it can do. Some commonly reported side-effects however include;
- Potential suppression of testosterone levels.
- May cause hair loss, fatigue, and mood swings.
- Unknown long & short term use data.
In fact, a lot of side-effects of testosterone are not present due to Testolone not aromatizing into estrogen like how testosterone does. This is how many side-effects are avoided.
This all sounds almost too good to be true, though we do need to keep in mind that it’s still a very new compound and adverse reactions might not have been recorded yet. Ensure you’re not competing in any body that prohibits the use of SARMs, as effective detection methods have been developed and being found using Testolone can result in hefty penalties or bans.
It’s very important to note that the quality of your substance can be greatly different than expected. In a recent study, researchers analyzed 44 different SARMs sold online. They found that only 52% actually contained SARMs [1].
In addition to this, a concerning 39% of products contained an unapproved drug and 25% contained substances not listed on the label [2]. This means the purity and chemical composition of the product you have may be greatly different than expected.
How much RAD-140 do I take?
The needs and requirements of people vary from person to person. RAD-140 has been shown to be positively active at even very low doses with extremely large doses showing little to no side-effects, though without much added benefit.
On average, anecdotal reports show people using between 5-10mg of RAD-140 while on a cycle, though some users have reported daily doses of up to 30mg daily without serious complications. These cycles typically last between 8-12 weeks with an equally long off-cycle.
Where do I buy RAD-140?
As Testolone is in a grey-area and unscheduled, finding a trustworthy, reliable source of good RAD-140 can be difficult. As mentioned above, over half of SARMs bought online were inaccurately labeled and contained adulterants, mislabeled doses, or no active compound at all. This means that extra care and caution should be taken when it comes to these substances!
For additional safety, it’s recommended to send in a sample of what you purchased to a lab for analysis. To research or buy SARMs in Canada, check out our pages on LGD-4033, RAD-140, MK-677, and other SARMs for some valuable information! RAD-140 can be purchased here from Canadian Anabolics
A quick summary of RAD-140.
RAD-140 is a very interesting new substance. Investigation and research still needs to be conducted to really understand both the positive and negative effects from RAD-140.With that being said, the limited clinical trials have shown promising results and low side effects, even with extremely high doses.
It’s important to start with a low dose and work your way up if no serious side effects (like hives) are noticed. If side-effects are present, it’s highly recommended to stop immediately, especially in the case of hives, heart palpitations, or other extreme reactions.
As it stands, RAD-140 seems to be a very promising yet unconfirmed replacement for testosterone. Its anabolic activity isn’t quite on the level of testosterone or other anabolic compounds, though it’s seeming lack of adverse effects make it quite attractive.
With that being said, Testolone is not seen as a viable substance for hormone replacement therapy due to its requirement of androgynous testosterone and estrogen needing to be present alongside it. The efficacy of RAD-140 is greatly increased when in conjunction with other SARMs or hormones.
A simple way to view RAD-140 is as a testosterone-lite. Yes it will definitely provide some benefits and effects, but it certainly isn’t as extreme or powerful as other anabolic agents or even regular testosterone.
