Ostarine: Selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) are rapidly gaining traction in the health, bodybuilding, and fitness world. Certain SARMs such as Ostarine are gaining traction at a rapid pace, and surely this attention can’t be undeserved. Touted for its muscle and bone-building abilities. Ostarine has seen use in the clinical world as well for the treatment of various ailments.
In this article, we’ll go over everything you need to know about Ostarine. How to take Ostarine, if it is safe, & legal or not. All of us have very different individual biology, metabolisms, and hormones. So, understanding Ostarine on an advanced level can help you achieve the results you’re looking towards.
Skip to the end of the article for a very quick overview of Ostarine.
Disclaimer: Use of Ostarine is at your own risk and real consultation with a physician is highly recommended. These are biologically-altering compounds and can possess real health risks.
Highlights
- Ostarine is less intense than many anabolic substances but also lacks many side effects.
- Ostarine typically supports the gain of lean muscle mass, the growth of healthy bone structure, and metabolic changes.
- Ostarine can be taken orally in pill or tablet form.
Other things to take note of!
- Medium-high doses of ostarine can suppress testosterone production.
- Hazardous side effects should be treated very carefully.
- SARMs, including Ostarine, are banned for use in competitions sanctioned by USADA and WADA.
What are the benefits of Ostarine?
Multiple controlled studies and trials have confirmed many of the benefits of ostarine. One of the more popular SARMs currently around. The list of benefits from Ostarine is quite extensive—and for good reason.
Ostarine, among other SARMs, stimulates androgen receptors. Essentially, this means inducing a greater amount of anabolic action in relation to the androgenic activity. The real mechanism of action is far more complex than this.
While testosterone was the very first anabolic androgen approved for clinical use. A variety of limitations prevent it from being more versatile in its application due to its pharmacokinetic properties. Ostarine, on the other hand has different pharmacokinetic properties and thus has a wider range of applications.
- Increased muscular power output.
At a dose of 3mg/day, patients treated with Ostarine showed a notable 15% increase in available strength.
- Increased levels of lean muscle mass
At moderate doses of Ostarine, muscle mass is reported to increase at roughly 1lb weekly. Controlled clinical trials have seen these numbers reach 2.7lbs of lean muscle mass over a 4-month time frame of only 3mg of Ostarine daily.
- Prevention of muscular catabolism in a caloric deficit.
The same trial mentioned above saw patients lose on average 1.3 lbs of fat mass over the same 4 month period. This is at a dose of 3mg daily of Ostarine. This is due to Ostarine making a complex metabolic change in the system which begins to prioritize fat cells rather than muscular tissue as a fuel source.
- Increased bone density and strength
A commonly overlooked benefit among young people though extremely valuable for elderly, the increased bone strength from Ostarine can prove to be invaluable.
- Healing of damaged tissue.
Ostarine has an effect on cell proliferation, helping to heal damaged cells, ligaments, tendons, and other soft tissue. This is great for injury prevention and recovery.
What is Ostarine used for?
Ostarine has a few other names which it falls under, namely Enobosarm, MK-2866, GTx-024 and S-22. The first studies and trials were put out in 2007, but temporarily halted in 2013. Since 2016, Phase II clinical trials have rebooted to further discover the abilities of Ostarine.
Ostarine was initially developed as a treatment for muscle wasting disease, or muscular atrophy. Gaining attention for its potential to treat obesity while increasing muscle mass, there’s no doubt of the clinical applications Ostarine has.
Now, Ostarine also sees its way into health, fitness, and competitive sports thanks to its anabolic potential without the adverse effects of testosterone or anabolic steroids. With studies still being conducted on Ostarine, it’s hard to say what else it may be used for in the future.
What are the side effects of Ostarine?
No drug is without its side effects, though Ostarine has demonstrated impressively low side effects in a number of clinical trials and anecdotal reports.
Frequent side effects seen with anabolic steroids like gynecomastia, severe hormonal and psychological changes, fat and water retention and others are not exhibited with Ostarine.
However, few cases have seen people develop severe Urticaria (hives) from Ostarine. Whether the hives developed from Ostarine or another source is unknown, however hives as a reaction to any drug is extremely dangerous and it’s recommended to stop immediately.
Hives from Ostarine or any substance in this category can be potentially life-threatening and great care should be taken, with an immediate visit to a physician or hospital. These compounds should be respected wholly and if your biology seems to disagree with it, then stop immediately.
A frequent question pops up occasionally – can Ostarine cause cancer? One study done in 2014 administered various doses and placebo to a group of cancer-bearing patients. The results of the 113 day trial demonstrated that Ostarine does not have any adverse effects on malignant, cancerous cells.
Ostarine, like other SARMs, may cause testosterone suppression with continual use of high doses. This is typically seen as a non-issue for moderate-low doses over short (6 week) periods of time.
The side effects of testosterone suppression are wide and include: Low energy, low motivation, sexual dysfunction, negative mood changes, fatigue and more.
Thankfully, Ostarine has low effects on natural testosterone levels in relation to a large array of prohormones and steroids.
This all sounds almost too good to be true, though we do need to keep in mind that it’s still a relatively new compound and some adverse reactions might not have been recorded yet. Ensure you’re not competing in any body that prohibits the use of SARMs, as effective detection methods have been discovered and being found using Ostarine can result in hefty penalties.
How much Ostarine do I take?
A lot of this depends on your individual health goals. While clinical studies have shown remarkable success with doses as low as 3mg, most beginners start at a dose between 10-25mg, with some people going as high as 30mg.
It’s worth noting that above the 20mg and especially above the 30mg doses that testosterone and other side-effects increase dramatically compared to lower doses. After medium-high doses of Ostarine being used, a detailed blood analysis should be taken and Post-Cycle Therapy should be considered to ensure your hormone and other blood metrics are healthy.
Where do I buy Ostarine?
As Ostarine is in a grey-area and unscheduled, finding a trustworthy, reliable source of good Ostarine can be difficult. Whether you’re looking to buy Ostarine in Canada, America, or anywhere else, the quality can vary greatly and even advertised dosages may not be accurate.
For additional safety, it’s recommended to send in a sample of what you purchased to a lab for analysis. To research or buy SARMs in Canada, check out our pages on LGD-4033, RAD-140, MK-677, and other SARMs for some valuable information!
A quick summary of Ostarine.
Ostarine can certainly boost performance, improve bone density, and help lose fat mass while retaining muscle mass. While this all sounds very great, it’s important to keep in mind that Ostarine and other SARMs are still in the process of being researched and long-term health effects haven’t been observed.
It’s important to start with a low dose and work your way up if no serious side effects (like hives) are noticed. If side-effects are present, it’s highly recommended to stop immediately.
If your biology works with Ostarine (as most peoples does), then the results from a 3 month cycle can certainly prove to be worth it. Ostarine is not as powerful as anabolic steroids such as Anavar or Trenbolone, it’s a step above the realm of Creatine and BCAAs in terms of effectiveness.
